The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) was founded in 1970 by parents of children with type 1 diabetes.  The Triangle/Eastern NC Chapter of JDRF established its first chapter office in 1996.  The chapter territory covers 51 counties in eastern North Carolina, ranging from the Triangle region to the coast.

JDRF currently funds more research toward curing Type 1 diabetes than any other non-profit, non-governmental organization in the world, contributing over $100 million annually.  In support of this mission the chapter holds several special events throughout the year!
